My painting process is as layered as the paintings themselves. The head-on and intense way I drink the fullness of being, serves as constant research for my work. Sometimes a piece will gestate within me for a period of time. Sometimes a piece will explode under my brushes in an orgasm of paint and colour. Always I will pass through valleys of chaos before finding and/or recognizing the pathways to resolution.

The process of getting out of my own way enough to allow the sourcing of image creation can include dancing, singing, crying, sleeping, praying, yoga, meditation. Although intuitive in this relationship with paint and surface, I do draw upon references; my sketches and writing, poetry, books, collected images and quotes, photographs, my dreamtime.

My choice of surface varies: canvas, wood panels, steel, old doors and windows, road signs or walls.

While paint remains the first choice of mediums, some paintings are resolved with additional materials such as wax, crayon, glazes, chalk, the inclusion of found objects, and elements of collage. All are characterized by layer upon layer of paint and meaning.
